uMngeni Wi-Fi is bringing reliable public internet access to the places our community already gathers, connecting residents, learners, small businesses and visitors, at no cost to them.
Across South Africa, data costs remain one of the biggest barriers to opportunity for a learner researching homework, a job-seeker applying online, a small business owner taking payments, or a family staying in touch. uMngeni Wi-Fi exists to close that gap, one public space at a time.
uMngeni Wi-Fi is a uMngeni Municipality initiative, delivered by Mi-WiFi as solution provider in partnership with AtomGate and Love Howick, who train and employ local community members to manage and run each site. We're rolling out free, filtered, POPIA-compliant Wi-Fi at high-footfall community sites across the municipality, funded entirely by local businesses and corporates advertising on the network, at zero cost to residents.
No cost, no contracts. Just connect and go.
Apply for jobs, get schoolwork done, take digital payments, or video call family, all without spending a cent on data.
Every site is funded by local businesses and corporates advertising on our Wi-Fi splash page.
Simple by design, because the whole point is to remove barriers, not add them.
Scan the QR code posted at any of our live community sites to bring up the sign-in page.
A quick, secure sign-in gets you online in seconds. No airtime, no vouchers, no cost.
Enjoy filtered, protected access to the internet, built with your safety and privacy in mind.
We're launching site by site across uMngeni, prioritising the places our community already gathers.
One of KwaZulu-Natal's best-loved landmarks, connecting the residents, traders and visitors who pass through every day.
A place of deep historical significance for South Africa, now also a place of connection for the community around it.
Reaching commuters and traders at one of Howick's busiest daily crossroads.
Keeping patients and families connected while they wait, right where healthcare meets the community.
uMngeni Wi-Fi is expanding site by site, funded by the local businesses and corporates advertising on our network. Meet the partners making it happen, or find out how your business can advertise on the next site.
